Completed on a cold December day - 12.5.13

I found this will rummage through a box of some of my property - it is a hooked rug that I did in 1971 when I lived in Michigan.  I had purchased a blank backing and designed the pattern myself - then drew the pattern on the blank backing and hooked it the winter of 1971 to 1972.

This is the first oil painting of a human figure that I have ever done - it was an experiment in getting the body proportions and musculature correct.

I started an art class the first Tuesday in November and it meets for 4 weeks - this is some of my work from the first three weeks - starting with the top one from the first class to the last two from week 3.

I attempted (three times between 11.15.13 and 11.18.13) to do a pencil sketch of Prince Charles from his picture on the Time Magazine - the drawing appear in that chronological order from top to bottom.

My continuing practice at life drawing

Completed 10.27.13 - done in 30 minutes

Line drawing done on 10.26.13 in 15 minutes

  This picture was done in color pencil and watercolor on a use canvas that had been gesso'ed over - the acrylic painting under the gesso was done with a palette knife therefore there were a great deal of ridges on the canvas - I used the contour ridges provided the idea for the picture

At the suggestion of my mentor, I was reminded that Monet redid his work numerous times until he got it to the point where he was satisfied with it - so I continue with this facial drawing to improve on my abilities

This was an excersize in life drawing from the first photo - the drawing right after the picture was done on 9.30.13 - I then left the subject to be redrawn until 10.14.13 - to see if I would get a different and improved image in my drawing - still has a ways to go.

Going through some old boxes I found a pencil drawing that I did in 1969.

This is an oil painting that I did in September 2011 and felt was complete at the time - as time has gone on, I realize that it needed more contrast - hence, it has been reworked.
