I attempted (three times between 11.15.13 and 11.18.13) to do a pencil sketch of Prince Charles from his picture on the Time Magazine - the drawing appear in that chronological order from top to bottom.
I had decided to do another regular batik - cloth dye on linen - using an acrylic painting that Don had done some time ago - this is the first picture in the series I drew a preliminary and simplified idea for the batik on plain drawing paper and highlighted the lines with black magic marker I, then, colored in the draft drawing with watercolor pencil so that I could get some idea about how I would apply the cloth dye to the linen. Then I traced my draft onto the linen, highlighted the lines with black magic marker and painted the cloths dye unto the linen with intentions of then covering the piece in a thin layer of wax to batik it - Don, however, suggested leaving it as it is (as it appears in the framed picture of it - so I decided to hold off an any further work to ponder what if anything I will do with it. After some forethought, I decided to take the colored paper draft and see what it would look like as a paper batik - I, therefore, did the batik process using a
