Cats and Computers

This is a new process or me - One morning, I took a picture of our three cats looking out the front door - I then made a simple pencil sketch of the photo with the cats - I was not sure what I would do with the sketch and, therefore, decided to take a picture of my sketch and then do some graphics on this picture of the sketch using the software on my computer (in an effort to develop some ideas of what to to with the original pencil sketch) - I thought that the result of using the graphics on the pencil sketch picture were interesting (as a step in the process of getting to a completed final work) - so here is the next step in the process (it is not the final work - only a step in the direction toward the final)

 I had decided to do another regular batik - cloth dye on linen - using an acrylic painting that Don had done some time ago - this is the first picture in the series  I drew a preliminary and simplified idea for the batik on plain drawing paper and highlighted the lines with black magic marker  I, then, colored in the draft drawing with watercolor pencil so that I could get some idea about how I would apply the cloth dye to the linen. Then I traced my draft onto the linen, highlighted the lines with black magic marker and painted the cloths dye unto the linen with intentions of then covering the piece in a thin layer of wax to batik it - Don, however, suggested leaving it as it is (as it appears in the framed picture of it - so I decided to hold off an any further work to ponder what if anything I will do with it.
